Professor Sheree Lin, a native of Shandong Province, China, and former resident of Taiwan,
is a fully tenured professor and former chairperson of the Foreign Languages Department at Diablo Valley College.
Ms. Lin has written teaching materials for and taught traditional and classical Chinese language, literature, and culture for the past twenty-five years at universities and colleges in both Taiwan and the United States, including Fu-Jen University, the Chinese Military Academy (Fong Shan), and California State University, Hayward. Besides being an accomplished public speaker on topics of Chinese culture she has served as a board member for the Chinese Political Action Committee.
She is a former reporter for the widely distributed World Journal Chinese language newspaper in the United States as well as having been a free-lance correspondent in Hong Kong and Japan. Ms. Lin has a fertile background in the arts as a published play writer, novelist, and author of children’s books, for which she has received numerous awards, including the Taiwan Military Literature Gold Medal and the Geng Hsin Culture Center Writing Award. She created self-paced Mandarin instructional programs for cable television in the San Francisco Bay Area for CSU, Hayward. Her grasp of the Chinese language is pervasive and she is fluent in many dialects including Taiwanese and Shandongese. Beside being a prolific teacher and writer, Professor Lin has an undying love for and commitment to her students.
