Our Course
Except for verb conjugation and tense review, grammar drills are a very minimal part of our course.
The vast majority of the time is devoted to pronunciation practice with individual sounds, words, and sentences. This is accomplished through a variety of means, depending on the make-up of the participants, but is usually structured around time devoted to listening, word drill, speaking alone, speaking in pairs, speaking groups, and even group debates. Listening practice is the period students focus on the instructor’s pronunciation by listening to the instructor give a short lecture on some aspect of American culture pertinent to their interests. Directed conversation practice follows with topics of students’ interest. Each student receives individual feedback from the instructor regarding their strengths and weakness, and each student is encouraged to use the Conversation practice time to address their respective issues

Assumptions
Educated Chinese already possess a well rounded working knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary. Yet, their proficiency with word pronunciation lags far behind, serving as the chief reason many Chinese are reluctant to speak English publicly.
